Bathroom Update

When we first saw our house I wasn't so sure about the bathroom because of the lack of storage space.  It was super cute with a nice pedestal sink and a jet tub, but the only storage is a cabinet mounted over the toilet.  I admit that over the past year and a half I have resorted to using the toilet tank as a table while trying to get ready. Yuck.

Last weekend we went to a cute little local shop that has a ton of beautiful old pieces and as we were walking out we saw this adorable little blue table. I thought it would be perfect as a bathroom vanity, but didn't know if it would fit or not. We asked to borrow a tape measure, it was 30" wide and 18" deep. Perfect!! So into the back of the car it went as we now finally had our perfect fit.

We stopped at a few home improvement stores to pick up a sink, faucet and some necessary tools that we needed for removing the old sink and piping. It wasn't so hard, in fact it went a lot easier than expected. Next we used the template and cut a hole in our new(old) vanity. I felt kind of bad cutting into it, but I knew it was for the greater good.

After a few trials, tribulations and trips to the store we finally once again had a functioning sink. The next day I decided that I didn't like the look of it against the current wall color, so I installed a chair rail and painted the lower half of the wall white. It makes the new vanity stand out more and brightens up the room. I also couldn't stand the way the medicine cabinet and mirrored light bar looked so I installed a new light and framed out the medicine cabinet. The final icing on the cake was installing new towel bars and TP holder.
